Dr. Hongxing Zhang, Senior Curator of East Asia, Asia Department, the V&A Museum. A native of Jiangsu, China, Hongxing studied at the Nanjing Normal University and the Nanjing University of Arts before pursuing his PhD in Chinese art at the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London. He has worked as a Senior Curator at the V&A Museum, specialising in Chinese graphic arts, calligraphy and painting, since 2004. In 2005, he and Lauren Parker began three years of research on contemporary Chinese design, focusing on three cities - Shenzhen, Shanghai, and Beijing; this resulted in the trailblazer exhibition China Design Now at the V&A in 2008.
