The Women's Documentary Photography Foundation, born in 2023, supports women photographers. The foundation aims to show the courage and infinite creativity of contemporary women through the brand image, and stimulate the resonance and recognition of the majority of female groups.
The color of the overall selection of a strong contrast of red and black and white three colors, just a glance can feel the female sonorous soul. Red comes from gladiolus, which is both enthusiastic and brave, and self-blooming. Classic black and white neutralizes the enthusiasm of red, adding all possibilities and purity to women.
At the level of visual language, both graphics and typography revolve around the context of photography. The letter fd in the trademark is reflected as pf by using the principle of pinhole imaging in photography. This sharp insight creates a clever combination of name and field. Kara-style materials through its flexibility, to reproduce the sense of operation of the organ camera, enhance the viewing interest.
On the whole, the design adopts the means of weakening the feminine elements, and takes the neutral performance as the design logic. From the other side, it reflects the brilliant brilliance of excellent women who never abuse their gender advantages, so that people can realize the stable and peaceful inner world of women.
The thank-you form is typeset in both Chinese and English, with vertical and horizontal placement. The priority language can be selected when vertical. When placed horizontally, a Fresnel condenser lens with a focal length of 300mm, inspired by the actual use of the camera, is placed in it, expecting the recipient to focus on the real love of life through it.
When the shutter sound first sounded in the hands of Chinese women, they were destined to use the lens to re-measure the world.
In China, photography foundations are scarce, and foundations that focus on female photographers are even rarer. This blank seems to imply that countless talented and potential female photographers are facing many difficulties and limitations on the road of pursuing their dreams. However, now with the establishment of this foundation, everything quietly changed. The birth of this foundation carries far-reaching social significance. It not only gives female photographers necessary financial support, but more importantly, it builds a stage for them to show their independent creation and helps them realize their dreams stranded due to economic constraints. By supporting potential female photographers in China, the foundation has opened a door to a new world for them, giving them the right to speak and an international vision.
In 2023, the Foundation successfully held the first [Selection] activity, inviting prestigious photographers at home and abroad to serve as judges, such as Li Yue, Ma Liang, Chen Tian, Zheng Youyou, Zhu Jiong, Lucy Soutter, Zelda Cheatle and Jonathan Anderson & Edwin Low. The judges not only conduct in-depth evaluations of each candidate's work, but also help them continuously improve their creative level through regular feedback and exchanges. This kind of all-round support is not limited to technical guidance, but also gives them great encouragement and recognition in spirit. The projects supported by the foundation have an international perspective, allowing these works to go abroad and gain attention and praise on a global scale.
When the camera becomes a ground-breaking bud, the foundation's nourishment turns into a spring breeze passing through the forest. On this fdpf platform, the voices of female photographers are getting louder and louder, and their works are like bright stars, using new power to shine in the vast sky of Chinese art. The foundation carries the mission of promoting the progress of Chinese society. It is silent with light and dust, so that female photographers can bravely explore new ideas on the edge of falsification, and inject continuous impetus into the progress of Chinese art.
Once wandering in the conflict between poetic humanities and popular commercial creation, I recently tried to explore the effect of vision in different dimensions, apply graphic design to various media to collide with new possibilities, spur myself with the spirit of craftsmanship, and continue to maintain enthusiasm on the road of design.
