In Fengwu Village, yi county, Anhui Province, the village vision, which takes the villagers' personal writing as the starting point, is created with the villagers. The villagers' handwriting fonts are deconstructed and reorganized by the designers to form a village vision system. The evolved vision is applied to buildings, road guides, doorplates, village memory museums, etc. The form of stroke reconstruction can also extend more possibilities for the village in the future.
In the process of urban and rural development, the countryside is facing various challenges. How to effectively deal with these challenges and shape a beautiful village that is suitable for living and working? How can designers participate in rural construction in a more local and sustainable way, retain their cultural genes and bring cultural self-confidence.
In the design, we are based on the local culture of the village and each individual villager, taking the villager's handwritten font as the starting point, the simple and natural brushwork shows the charm of individual writing in the village, while retaining the original characteristics of Fengwu, we deconstruct and reorganize the hand-written strokes full of temperature, extend the visual symbol of Fengwu Village and form a system, they are applied to the village memory museum, canal bridges and other building signs, as well as the basic road signs such as the guide and doorplate of Fengwu Village. Rural vision is like the natural growth of this land. These reorganized vision is given a new value, which not only finds its cultural gene and cultural self-confidence for the village, but also activates more possibilities in the countryside.
IARA Rural Action-Fengwuji ", initiated by IARA founding partners Zhang Liangqiu and Liu Lubin, and served as township construction mentors", is sponsored by the CPC yi county Committee, yi county People's Government and IARA Rural Research Center. It will take Fengwu Village, Biyang Town, yi county, Huangshan City as its base and start with space transformation, industrial activation and cultural inheritance through urban-rural linkage and villagers' co-construction, to awaken rural vitality.
