The project is located at the northern end of Honghu Park, Luohu District, Shenzhen, on the south side of Nigang East Road and on the east side of Buji River. Honghu Park is a municipal park with the theme of lotus. It was built in 1985 and is one of the most important urban parks in the minds of Shenzhen citizens. In order to solve the problem of water environment, the water purification plant of Honghu Park was newly built in Shenzhen water control and quality improvement work plan (2015-2020). The water purification plant adopts fully buried water purification technology. What we need to do is the restoration design of the ground landscape on the water purification plant and the design of the underground office building at the north end.
After the completion of the groundwater purification plant and ground landscape restoration project in Honghu Park, it is honored to be promoted to be named "Shenzhen Heshui Cultural Base". This is another important attempt of Nansha original team to cross-border design practice of water purification production and landscape architecture in infrastructure publicity series for many years. As always, we hope that through the active design efforts of landscape/architects, an engineering water purification production facility that cannot be absent in daily life will become a good public experience and education place with a sense of ceremony in the city, and re-endow the infrastructure with the meaning of spirit and landscape/architectural aesthetics.
Shenzhen Heshui Cultural Base is one of the important attempts made by Nansha's original team in the series of public infrastructure for many years to practice the cross-border design of water purification production and landscape architecture. However, because it is closely related to the requirements of underground water purification plants and surface flood control projects, as scheme designers, we need to have a certain depth of understanding and research on the technical logic, production process and logic behind the landscape design, and on this basis, beyond the engineering logic, try to create a community-friendly, eco-friendly, different from the traditional new public places.
This project took more than four years from our involvement in the ground landscape design to its completion. In this process, we try to solve the problem of the area, but also give the community a better Honghu Park. Although the final result is not perfect, the multi-party interest demands and difficulties encountered in this process are representative, which has certain reference significance for solving related problems.
Nansha original let an original "no sense" of the lotus water culture base into "interesting", rich experience of urban space and public buildings. Our original intention is to make an engineering water purification facility, which cannot be absent in daily life, become a good experience and new place with a sense of ritual in the city through the active design efforts of architects, and re-endow the infrastructure with the meaning of spirit and architectural aesthetics-spiritual place.
NODE is one of the influential independent architectural design firms in southern China. It was founded by Liu Heng in Hong Kong in 2004 and set up an office in Shenzhen in 2009. There is a team of nearly 20 architects. Based in Nansha and Shenzhen, the firm conducts architectural and urban design research in the Pearl River Delta and beyond. In recent years, it has focused on urban public space, urban renewal, culture, education and infrastructure, and maintained forward-looking and experimental through cross-border research and practice. "NODE" symbolizes the node of the intersection of multi-directional vectors, reflecting the design concept of the dynamic evolution of the office.
