Short Description of Work

It's a project about nostalgia. In this project I designed a range of objects which were a narrative of my relationship with my childhood memories. I sought forms, materials and symbolism which captured the physical and emotional elements of my real and remembered childhood memories started by writing down different events which happened at different time points.
This project combines elements from different times and spaces. I blent objects from his childhood memories, particularly design pieces from1990's China, with more recent works to create a new visual hybrid.
The complex aesthetic object of contemporary life is composed of discrete parts. It can be regarded as a dis-integrated entity or, with respect to its place within a body of work, one component of a constellated whole. I try to create a single form possessing multiple referents based on its relation to other elements in a pictorial composition.
"Dawn's Embrace" captures the artist's joyful memories of childhood, bathed in the golden hues of a seaside sunrise. The piece stands tall like a tree, its form reminiscent of the welcoming embrace of nature. It offers a sense of warmth and protection, much like the artist's home in a coastal town, where the first rays of the sun would paint the sky in vibrant colors, filling the world with light and possibility.
The sculpture blends the strength and solidity of cubism with the gentle optimism of a new day. The soft glow it emits reflects the dawn breaking over the sea-inviting peace, joy, and hope into any space.
In "Dawn's Embrace", the artist captures not only the physical beauty of those early mornings but also the sense of infinite happiness and adventure that marked their childhood. This art work is a tribute to those perfect, sun-soaked memories, offering a little piece of sunshine to anyone who encounters

Tell us about your creative practice, and how your work engages with Chinese design, society, environment or culture.

My work draws inspiration from traditional Chinese artifacts, deconstructing their forms to create captivating new shapes. These pieces were created based on traditional bodiless lacquerware technique, built up from countless layers of Xuan paper, and finished with natural lacquer, preserving the delicate texture of the paper.
Through this distinctive material language, I challenge the boundaries of time and culture, working primarily with Chinese natural lacquer, Xuan paper, and wood. By blending these time-honored materials with innovative forms, my practice pays homage to craft heritage while reimagining new dimensions in art and design.
