The Five-color Light Pavilion
The theme of the 2021 Shenzhen Light and Shadow Art Season is "Light Meets the Future". Daxingjizi was invited to design the "Five Color Pavilion" building installation at Longgang Universiade Center. The Universiade Center is large in scale and is the main place for residents' fitness and leisure, but it lacks small-scale rest buildings, so the designer started his creation with this as a starting point. The site is located in the central green space used as a small park, which aims to serve the leisure citizens here, add interest to children, give night walkers a warm foothold, and can be used as an activity space to hold various small activities.
Its design features are remarkable. It adopts 360-degree open space and a color light matrix composed of 12 semicircular lamps covers the top. After height difference treatment, the light pavilion platform is naturally connected with the grass, which is convenient for citizens to enter. When night falls, it becomes the visual focus and attracts people like a lighthouse. The light pavilion is surrounded by an open posture, and the floor is equipped with barrier-free ramps to facilitate citizens pushing strollers. The shape draws on the skeleton structure of traditional Chinese lanterns, and uses five traditional colors such as green and yellow. It has the morphological characteristics of lanterns and mushrooms and has unique attraction. The dome of the pavilion is wrapped with colored semi-transparent matte soft film, which can penetrate light and has both sunshade and waterproof functions. It ensures comfort under the pavilion during the day and becomes an excellent public activity space after being lit at night.
The five-color light pavilion is of great significance. It builds a place for citizens to interact with light and shadow and nature, rest and party. It is a natural place for small-scale activities. People enjoy quiet and happy time here in the warm winter sun. Under the influence of social media, people's natural connection with reality is gradually lost. It takes the relationship between human and nature as the starting point, encourages people to break away from the electronic screen, experience the real scene with body and mind, provides "close-range social" space, tries to reunite the dissolved connection, and makes people re-examine, think and explore the common future in the process of appreciating the changes of light and landscape trees, observing nature and children's play, it plays a unique and positive role in the process of releasing the vitality of urban public space, and becomes a warm corner for people to get close to nature and communicate and interact.

"Urban Magnetic Field" uses plastic frames to build surreal "pixel cities"; "JUMP Urban Electric Field" uses trampoline interaction to "generate electricity" for the city; "Floating of Light" uses jellyfish as inspiration to create a meditative atmosphere; "Link City" connects art and space with water pipes; the "Five Colors Pavilion" adds a pleasant space to the Universiade Center; the "Dewdrop Tower" combines dewdrops with the tower, bringing a natural and interactive experience. Adhering to the innovative concept, the studio explores the diverse connection between art and city, people and space, and stimulates the vitality and public perception of the city with unique works.
