Open the small box of peace in the world
"Open the Small Box of Peace in the World" is a cross-border art project jointly created by designer Gao Shaokang, small box studio Di Pian and students aged 6-18. The work takes mirror acrylic as the carrier, and the skull face spectrum with diameters of 110cm and 140cm is modeled. The black and white patterns are presented through UV printing technology. The metaphorical narrative space is constructed by combining classic works such as Journey to the West and Water Margin with popular cartoon images such as Doraemon and Astro Boy. Starting from the traditional pattern spectrum series of the artist "Peace in the World", it is expanded into an immersive black and white painting space, landing in Guangzhou "Future Club" gallery, and creating a philosophical field with interactive experience through mirror installation, artistic furniture and wall painting packages.
"Open the Box Out of the Box: Peacefool World" is a cross - disciplinary art project co - created by designer Hong Ko (Gao Shaokang) and Little Box Studio's DP (Dian Pian) with participants aged 6-18. Utilizing mirror acrylic as the medium, the work features skull - shaped panels (110cm and 140cm in diameter) adorned with black - and - white UV - printed patterns. These patterns blend classical Chinese literary motifs (Journey to the West, Water Margin) with pop culture icons like Doraemon and Astro Boy, constructing a metaphorical narrative space. Originating from Hong Ko's Peacefool World series of traditional symbolic masks, the project evolved into an immersive black - and - white art installation at Guangzhou's "Future Society" gallery. Through mirrored installations, art furniture, and wall murals, it created an interactive philosophical experience.
Through cross-generation co-creation (children and artists), the works break the stereotyped cognition of "children's creation" and stimulate the viewer's reflection on life and cultural symbols with interactive mirrors. According to the feedback from the exhibitors, 60% of the parent-child audience believed that the works promoted intergenerational dialogue. Adult audiences said that it triggered deep thinking on "social culture" and promoted public aesthetic quality and critical thinking through artistic intervention.
Directly hit the social crux of Chinese culture's "hidden evil and promoting good": wrap the dark narrative with beautiful symbols and question the real contradictions under the harmony of appearances. For example, the students cartoonized "Wu Song fighting the tiger", implying that contemporary teenagers are confused about "violence and justice", which triggers public reflection on educational narrative.
