Details of Pantone's Haze Works
The emergence of smog has aroused public concern about environmental issues. As designers, we want to arouse public awareness of environmental protection through design language. When our world loses color due to smog, what should designers do? Pantone color cards capture and present the colorful colors of the world, as a daily tool for designers, if one day even the colors of Pantone color cards are polluted by smog, what should we do?
Pantone color book is usually used for the standardization and communication of color, and its use to express environmental problems can cause people to think about the meaning behind color. we chose the photos about smog on the internet, made new creations by using the images created by the public, re-made a usable pantone color book, and used the color cards of the color book to spell out representative architectural attractions (cctv building, tiananmen square, the great wall in beijing), to visually show the influence of smog on the urban landscape. We hope that through these designs, people can rethink the relationship between people and the environment.
The smog problem is one of the major environmental challenges facing Chinese society. Through our design works, we hope to arouse public attention to environmental issues, arouse public awareness of environmental protection, and promote social attention to environmental protection. By collecting haze photos on the Internet, re-making color cards and splicing them into images of Beijing's landmark buildings (such as CCTV Building, Tiananmen Square and the Great Wall), the damage of haze to the urban landscape is visually presented. This design not only causes people to think about the meaning behind the color, but also arouses public attention to environmental issues with visual impact. At present, we have made a short film of this concept, and plan to further promote it through offline exhibitions, online publicity or practical activities to enhance public awareness of environmental protection.
