Air-Flowers 是品牌自主开发的环保工艺，通过折叠条形面料形成烟花般的花朵效果，打造出花瓣洒落的浪漫轮廓。在制作过程中，面料被充分利用，最大限度地减少浪费。这些手工烟花花朵轻柔地环绕于礼服主体，增添缥缈之美与盛开的意境，体现对自然美学的观察与敬意。AW23秀场中，这条礼服还结合了水雾翅膀与喷射玫瑰香气的装置，伴随模特的行走，让观众仿佛置身于一个充满爱的梦幻空间。我们希望通过这些作品，激发人们对未来乌托邦服装形式的想象，并带着爱与梦想，启航飞向更美好的未来。

SUSAN FANG air fireworks bubble beaded dress is an important work in the brand AW2023 series "AIR · TOPIA", which embodies aesthetics, innovation, environmental protection and cultural connotation. This work uses the brand's original Air-Flowers technology and beading technology to convey hope and blessing with romantic design. In this series, we ask about the present from the perspective of the future, hoping to build a universal family full of love and connection. No matter where we are, we all share love and memory under the same sky, as if the invisible fragrance will be connected to each other. Through this work, we re-evoke the profound resonance of the community of human destiny, reflecting the harmonious coexistence of love and nature.

Air-Flowers is an environmentally friendly process independently developed by the brand. It forms a fireworks-like flower effect by folding the strip fabric to create a romantic outline of petals. In the production process, the fabric is fully utilized to minimize waste. These handmade fireworks flowers gently surround the main body of the dress, adding ethereal beauty and blooming artistic conception, reflecting the observation and respect for natural aesthetics. In the AW23 show, the dress also combines water mist wings with a device that sprays rose fragrance, accompanying the model's walk, making the audience feel like they are in a dream space full of love. Through these works, we hope to inspire people's imagination of future utopian clothing forms, and set sail for a better future with love and dreams.

The air fireworks bubble beaded dress not only embodies the brand concept and exquisite craftsmanship, but also becomes a symbolic work of SUSAN FANG, helping the brand win more business and media cooperation opportunities worldwide. In October 2024, this dress was honored to be selected as an exhibit in the "Made In China" exhibition in Rotterdam, the Netherlands Wereldmuseum, to show the world China's handicrafts, creativity and profound aesthetics. Traditional Chinese handicrafts have been known for their refinement and perfection since ancient times, and this cultural treasure is our pride. 我的创作实践深深植根于童年的记忆和自然的馈赠，而其中最深远的影响来自我母亲——她的乡村童年经历不仅滋养了我的灵感，也成为我们品牌创作的灵魂之一。作为团队中重要的手工艺人和设计师，她通过自己的故事将传统与情感传递到每一件作品中。

在我出国学习女装设计之前，她曾分享过这样一段记忆：小时候，裁缝师傅会来到家中，手把手教大家制作衣服。她用两个方块裁剪成身体，两条长方形做成袖子，简单却高效，丝毫不浪费一寸布料。与我在西方学到的剪裁理念截然不同，但却体现了中国人自古以来“物尽其用”的智慧。

回忆起我的童年，家乡宁波的点滴仿佛一幅画卷：竹林中四季更迭，初春的野笋新鲜脆嫩，母亲每次挖笋时，总会小心留下竹笋的根，助其来年再生。那些由竹子制成的椅子和家具无需钉子却稳固耐用，甜点红豆大糕的糯米置于竹叶之上，既环保又避免黏连。生活在大自然的怀抱中，人们对植物的生长规律和自然的韵律了然于心，也因此得以创造出一物多用的巧妙方式。这种深植于生活的可持续理念，早已在中国传统中流淌，而非一种现代的潮流标签。

如今，面对快时尚和工业化的浪潮，我希望通过设计传承这种人与自然和谐共生的智慧。例如，此次作品我们采用中国古代“一片式”剪裁的理念，将方形布料完整地利用，减少浪费。这样的设计在隋唐时期的圆领袍和南宋的“褶裥式裙”中都有体现，通过褶皱将布料100%利用，不仅展现了古代服装工艺的智慧，也传递了古人的节约意识。

我们的“空气编织”与“空气烟花”工艺正是这一理念的延续。在制作过程中，我们通过层叠与手缝连接，将整幅布料逐层塑造，形成如花海般自然洒落的轮廓。每一件衣服都在人台上由上至下逐步完成，结合不同的颜色和细节，呈现出轻盈而梦幻的效果。为了进一步提升秀场的观赏体验，我们在“空气烟花泡泡串珠礼服”中加入钢圈结构与水雾机，并注入玫瑰花精油。随着服饰的动态展现，自然花香随之弥漫，将玫瑰花所象征的爱与包容传递给观众。这一作品的领口采用玻璃珠子装饰，呼应了我们品牌标志性的“泡泡”系列，并隐喻水雾中的玫瑰芬芳。整件作品的制作耗时一个月，每一针一线都蕴含着对传统手工艺的敬意。

我们希望，通过这些创作能唤起对传统智慧的再思考：如何在减少浪费的同时，让设计既富有重工之美，又兼具轻盈与自由；如何如同母亲制作衣物或砍竹子那般，以想象力和节制创造永恒的美。创新与传统交织，手工的温度与自然的诗意，是我们对创作的执念。

My creative practice is deeply rooted in childhood memories and natural gifts, and the most profound influence comes from my mother-her rural childhood experience not only nourishes my inspiration, but also becomes one of the souls of our brand creation. As an important craftsman and designer in the team, she conveys tradition and emotion to each piece through her own story.

Before I went abroad to study women's clothing design, she once shared such a memory: when I was a child, the tailor would come to my home and teach everyone how to make clothes. She cut out two squares into her body and two rectangles into sleeves, simple but efficient, without wasting an inch of fabric. It is completely different from the tailoring concept I learned in the West, but it embodies the wisdom of the Chinese people to "make the best use of everything" since ancient times.

Recalling my childhood, my hometown of Ningbo is like a picture: the four seasons in the bamboo forest change, the wild bamboo shoots in early spring are fresh and crisp, and every time my mother digs bamboo shoots, she always carefully leaves the roots of bamboo shoots to help them regenerate in the coming year. Those chairs and furniture made of bamboo are stable and durable without nails. The glutinous rice of the dessert red bean cake is placed on the bamboo leaves, which is environmentally friendly and avoids adhesion. Living in the embrace of nature, people know the growth law of plants and the rhythm of nature, so they can create a clever way to use more than one thing. This concept of sustainability, which is deeply rooted in life, has long been flowing in Chinese tradition, rather than a modern trend label.

Today, in the face of fast fashion and industrialization, I hope to pass on the wisdom of harmonious coexistence between man and nature through design. For example, in this work, we adopt the concept of "one-piece" tailoring in ancient China to make complete use of square fabrics and reduce waste. This design is reflected in the round neck robe of the Sui and Tang dynasties and the "pleated skirt" of the Southern Song Dynasty. The 100 percent use of the cloth through the folds not only shows the wisdom of ancient clothing technology, but also conveys the economizing consciousness of the ancients.

Our "air weaving" and "air fireworks" process is the continuation of this concept. In the production process, we connect the whole fabric layer by layer through lamination and hand sewing, forming a natural outline like a sea of flowers. Each piece of clothing is gradually completed from top to bottom on the human table, combining different colors and details to present a light and dreamy effect. In order to further enhance the viewing experience of the show, we added a steel ring structure and a water mist machine to the "air fireworks bubble beaded dress" and injected rose essential oil. With the dynamic display of costumes, the natural fragrance of flowers is permeated, and the love and tolerance symbolized by roses are transmitted to the audience. The neckline of this piece is decorated with glass beads, which echoes our brand's iconic "Bubbles" series and is a metaphor for the fragrance of roses in the mist. The production of the whole piece took a month, and each stitch contained a tribute to traditional handicrafts.

We hope that through these creations, we can evoke a rethinking of traditional wisdom: how to reduce waste while making design rich in the beauty of heavy work, light and free; how to create eternal beauty with imagination and restraint, just as mothers make clothes or chop bamboo. Innovation and tradition interweave, manual temperature and natural poetry, is our obsession with creation.

SUSAN FANG's design is poetic and beautiful, inspired by natural charm and aesthetic exploration. She uses transparent materials and mathematical structures to show the beauty of asymmetry. Susan studied at Central Saint Martin and founded the brand of the same name in 2017. It focuses on perceiving the world and mathematical geometry, and combines innovative textiles and colors to create original clothing and accessories.
Inspired by the beauty of fractal structures in nature, the brand focuses on craftsmanship, handcrafting and sustainable innovation. Susan won the Forbes 30 Under 30 and was shortlisted for the LVMH Award.
